Designed during my 10-week internship with the Starbucks Creative Studio, this booklet was created to serve as a gifting option for Latin American markets in the Caribbean that don't currently have the technology to support Starbucks Card—the system of reloadable gift cards that also track rewards in most of Starbucks' markets.
Talia Bootz, the copywriting intern, and I were tasked to create a gifting option that would look and feel like part of the Starbucks Card family and work year-round. Because the booklet will likely be used in market for several years before it gets replaced, it was important to make sure that the look and feel of the work aligned with where the Starbucks brand was heading. With all the emphasis on the specialty aspect of the brand that is happening as new Roasteries and Reserve bars are opening around the world, I chose to pursue an upscale black and copper theme and incorporated coffee leaves sparingly as decorative elements.
The booklet is packaged with five paper envelopes to go with each certificate, creating a complete gifting experience. The envelopes are bright yellow to reflect the vibrant colors of the region they will be sold in, with the idea that different colors of envelopes could be printed at a later time to change things up, while still keeping the white and copper detailing to tie into the booklet.
